Folding in Culture
Culture is often celebrated through food. Stephanie’s work celebrates staples of Asian American through translation into incredibly detailed, scaled replicas in clay, complete with meticulously painted lettering and matched colors.

Making for Someone Else
Stephanie folds dozens of porcelain dumplings in using the methods that she learned from her Ayi, or aunt, growing up. For Stephanie, the translation of clay into Asian food items carries with it cultural pride, heritage, and familial bonds. For her, “it’s not just the act of cooking, it’s the act of making for someone else.”
