Eden Weingart & Snack Break
An illustrator, motion designer, and ceramicist living in New York City
Eden started Snack Break after finding the practice of ceramics provided a more spontaneous form of creativity than what she found in her design work.
Eden's unique visual design style has translated to her physical objects. She uses forms and shapes to create personality and fun throughout her work. Each piece is unique and finished simply to ensure the shapes and materials can really shine through.
Personality of Shape
A key element in all of her work, Eden is passionate about the personalities that her pieces become. Typically starting with a sketch, she takes her clay to the wheel and creates silhouettes and lines that are both unique and expressive. Each piece has something different to say.
The pieces in this collection were made to express an essence of fun, with the intention to bestow a little bit of joy into their new homes.
Spontaneity of Clay
As opposed to the normally high-control nature of design, Eden found the wheel to be an exploration in creative spontaneity. The clay moves and pushes back, almost as if it's alive and breathing. Even with the artist's guidance, it evolves to have a life of its own, embodying attributes that may wind up a pleasant surprise.
Today, Eden's exploration is expanding to include a method of slicing and folding pieces off the wheel, opening a path to new shapes and personalities.
