Open Call: Issue No.1
SUPPLY UNICA wants to share your story in the inaugural issue of our new publication. The publication will be made up of periodic issues focusing on ways that ceramics bring us together.
Issue No. 1 highlights an intimate connection: how we share food and the way ceramics facilitate, encourage, and enliven those interactions. We all have memories of meals, whether it's the passing of platters at a holiday celebration, the emptying of butter dishes at a gathering of friends, or the filling and refilling of plates at a simple family meal. Food is tied to our identity. It's influenced by our environment, our history, and our culture - and it's the act of sharing a meal that bring us together.
How do you share?
We are looking to feature a limited selection of ceramicists who want to tell their food stories through a collection that ranges from 8-12 pieces and considers questions like: How do you share your favorite dishes? How is your ideal meal served? Who’s there with you?
Your stories and pieces will be featured in the issue, as well as a handful of events put on by the SUPPLY UNICA team. Of course, you will receive our standard artist-friendly compensation for your work.
If you’re interested in participating, please send the following to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Photos of your current work.
- A rough concept of your Issue No. 1 collection. This can be a set of sketches, a written description, or photos of made work.
- An informal piece of writing on what sharing food represents to you, both as a person and as a ceramicist.
We will be taking submissions until September 9, and the selected ceramicists will be notified that week. Once selected, final pieces for the issue can be submitted until October 22nd. The issue will be published during the winter season.
Thank you - we look forward to hearing from you!
